ABOUT US
Hello, and welcome to Hudson Company Leather.

I started working with leather after visiting a custom leather shop in a small village in Spain. I was immediately impressed with the basic tools used in making such highly crafted goods. I've been hooked ever since.
My shop is named after my Great-Great Grandfather William Hudson Ramsey (1840-1931), a proud Civil War veteran. I’m sure he would approve of my custom made-to-order hand-stitched leather wares, made in the USA, I hope you do as well.

Materials
All items made by Hudson Company Leather are hand cut and stitched in the USA using full grain leather by Horween, Herman Oak, Crazy Horse* and SB Foot.
Our leather products are sewn by hand using the saddle stitch technique, which has been favored for centuries by expert leather craftsmen, and has a distinct durability advantage when compared to the lock stitch technique produced by machine stitching. The saddle stitch technique intertwines the thread creating a double stitch that won’t unravel if it is ever cut or torn. If you’ve ever had sewn items, leather or otherwise, unravel, you know how important this feature is!

*To be clear, Crazy Horse leather is not actually from horses. It was given the name because of its popular use for horse saddles and cowboy chaps. The leather is a full grain aniline hide that is prone to being marked up, giving it a distressed antique look that enhances with wear. Due to the nature of this leather, the oils used to treat it allow for the boot to pick up a more rugged appearance compared to other hides.

Please note, your leather goods will wear naturally over time, commonly referred to as patina. It’s important to know that this in no way reduces the strength or durability of your leather product. A rich patina look is typically desirable and one of the beautiful natural characteristics of leather goods.
